H2BA Merchandisefor Ricky Tyler

Overview
Merchandise for South African R&B artist Ricky Tyler, created around the release of Happy To Be Alive. I developed the garment graphics from the album’s existing visual language.
Needs
The merchandise needed to feel connected to the album without simply placing the cover on clothing. The job was to find a small set of recognisable elements that could carry the mood across different garments.
Solution
The idea started with the language already inside the artwork. I developed emoji-like symbols for key words, brought Ricky’s signature into the system and tested how the bold letterforms could carry larger back graphics. Colour came directly from the album typography, paired with black or white depending on the garment. Keeping the palette and type consistent gave the symbols and compositions room to shift without breaking the collection.
